That this House notes the Parliamentary Under-Secretary of State for Health's comment during the Westminster Hall Adjournment Debate of 27th February that social services in Oxfordshire are operating under tremendous pressure; further notes that Oxfordshire is among the counties that receives the lowest standard spending assessment allocation from central government, which this year has meant a ??20 million shortfall in its social service's budget and that the county received far less money than similar counties such as Milton Keynes and most London boroughs despite the similar cost of living, the cost of staff and the cost of care; calls therefore on the Government to allocate sufficient levels of funding from the comprehensive spending review to ensure that there are sufficient resources for social services in counties such as Oxfordshire; and further calls on the Government to bring forward its review of the standard spending assessment so that counties like Oxfordshire do not suffer further imbalance in the 2002-03 spending allocations.
