CLOSURE OF ROLLS ROYCE ENGINEERING RESEARCH AND DEVELOPMENT FACILITY AT EAST;KILBRIDE
That this House congratulates the unions and workforce at the Rolls Royce Engineering Research and Development facility at East Kilbride for their determined efforts to save the 600 jobs at the plant; regrets the failure of the Secretary of State for Scotland and his Ministers to give support to the campaign to save the jobs; and condemns the actions of the Board of Rolls Royce in proceeding with the closure plans knowing that their actions will prove deeply damaging to the aerospace and engineering sector of the Scottish economy. (Relevant registered interest declared).
