Early day motion tabled by primary sponsor Peter Fry (Conservative), on Wednesday, 28 February 1996, in the House of Commons. It is signed by 72 members in total.

DIVERSIONARY WORKS

That this House urges the Secretary of State for Transport to confirm the continuation of existing arrangements for the utilities' sharing of costs for diversionary transport works when pipes and cables are required to be moved to improve local transport in the United Kingdom's cities and towns; understands that current arrangements take into account benefits derived by the utilities as well as safeguards to the proper allocation of public money; and welcomes the security and stability which the maintenance of the utilities' modest financial contribution makes to new and existing urban transport projects.
