Early day motion tabled by primary sponsor Jenny Jones (Labour), on Wednesday, 13 January 1999, in the House of Commons. It is signed by 31 members in total.
FUTURE OF BANKS' BREWERY
That this House notes with concern the hostile bid made by Marstons for fellow Midlands brewery Banks; further notes the non-binding agreement between Bass and Marstons and considers that should the bid be successful this would give Bass more than a 50 per cent. share of the Midlands beer market; and therefore calls upon the Office of Fair Trading to investigate the bid in the interests of consumers.
