ANNIVERSARY OF THE LUFTHANSA SKYCHEFS DISPUTE

That this House notes with concern that 20th November marks one year from the sacking of more than 270 Lufthansa Skychefs workers; notes that these staff workers were sacked by the Heathrow airline catering company for a lawful, official one-day strike; condemns the failure of the senior management of LSG Lufthansa Service Holding AG - a major subsidiary of Deutsche Lufthansa AG - to resolve the dispute despite accepting moral responsibility for the dispute in April 1999; condemns the fact that Lufthansa's final offer has been that sacked workers could apply for vacancies as and when they arise and subject to their satisfying selection criteria or take financial compensation set at ??220 for each year of service; supports the TGWU campaign to secure reinstatement of the Lufthansa Skychefs workers; and urges honourable Members of the House not to travel on Lufthansa Airlines until the dispute is fully resolved.
