Early day motion tabled by primary sponsor Alan Meale (Labour), on Monday, 25 March 2002, in the House of Commons. It is signed by 53 members in total.
H.M. PRISON SERVICE AND GOLDEN JUBILEE MEDAL
That this House congratulates the Government on its decision to extend the granting of the Golden Jubilee Medal previously confined to the armed forces and the Royal Fleet Auxiliary to members of the emergency services; but is disappointed that members of HM Prison Service who have completed five years or more reckonable service on 6th February will not be eligible for such an award, as members of this public service daily risk injury or worse on behalf of law-abiding citizens in their dangerous employment.
