Early day motion tabled by primary sponsor John McDonnell (Labour), on Wednesday, 22 January 2003, in the House of Commons. It is signed by 19 members in total.
TAKEOVER BIDS FOR SAFEWAYS
That this House notes with concern that the takeover bids for Safeways, currently being reported, potentially put at risk 1300 jobs at Safeways' headquarters in West London; and calls upon the Government to be prepared to intervene in the takeover process to protect the public interest, for both employees and consumers.
