Early day motion tabled by primary sponsor Ann Cryer (Labour), on Wednesday, 11 February 2009, in the House of Commons. It is signed by 21 members in total.
ILKLEY ART CLUB'S CENTENARY
That this House congratulates members, past and present, of the Ilkley Art Club on achieving their 100th anniversary and thanks them for providing encouragement to so many artists and a great deal of pleasure through their magnificent annual exhibitions to the townspeople of Ilkley and beyond; recalls that at a meeting in April 1909 and following an exhibition in March of that year the Ilkley Art Club was formed, exhibitors were charged two shillings and six pence per exhibition and had to be a resident of Ilkley or Ben Rhydding; and notes that with a membership of over 90 the club maintains an enviable reputation resulting from its policy of aiming high and fostering a spirit of friendly and enthusiastic co-operation.
