Early day motion tabled by primary sponsor Lord Stratford (Labour), on Thursday, 4 November 1993, in the House of Commons. It is signed by 110 members in total.

SEAL GENITALIA

That this House expresses its grievous concern at learning that Chinese businessmen are seeking to obtain the genitalia of up to 60,000 harp seals from Canada for use in alleged aphrodisiacs; declares its total opposition to such a cruel and wanton waste of animal life; believes the slaughter of a seal, or any animal so that its penis can be used in the manufacture of so-called sex potions is against every decent moral standard and should be condemned by all countries; and calls upon Canadian Premier Jean Chretien and his newly elected Liberal Government to show their disgust at this obscene proposal and immediately ban any export of seal genitalia from Canada.
