Mr. Neil Turner: To ask the Secretary of State for Health what proportion of NHS staff are (a) medical, (b) nursing, (c) technical, (d) administrative (managerial and clerical) and (e) auxiliary and support; and what proportion of each category are covered by nationally negotiated wage rates and contract of employment conditions. [213746] Mr. Hutton: [holding answer 21 February 2005]: The proportion of staff working within groupings used to illustrate their role in the national health service is shown in the table. Information about the proportion of staff working in these groupings covered by nationally negotiated wage rates could be provided only at disproportionate cost.
