Question: To ask the Secretary of State for Environment, Food and Rural Affairs, how many visits on average she expects officials will make to farms in relation to the single farm payment.

Answer: Mr. Hoyle: To ask the Secretary of State for Environment, Food and Rural Affairs how many visits on average she expects officials will make to farms in relation to the single farm payment. [224699] Alun Michael: The average number of visits to farms in relation to the single payment scheme will depend on the total number of applications made. Visits will be undertaken to at least 5 per cent. of the applicants each year. If there are for example 125,000 applicants in 2005, this would produce 6,250 visits.
