Question
To ask the Chancellor of the Exchequer if he will make a statement on investigations into cases of (a) fraud and (b) fraud by members of staff in Customs and Excise since 1990 in which all proceedings are complete.
Answer

The Department investigates a variety of different types of fraud under statute. Information on investigations into cases of fraud could only be provided at a disproportionate cost.As far as fraud by members of staff is concerned, the figures that we have are as follows:
