Madagascar

- To ask the Secretary of State for Foreign and Commonwealth Affairs what the arrangements are for UK diplomatic representation in Madagascar; and what plans he has to change these arrangements.

As my right hon. Friend the Foreign Secretary announced on 15 December 2004, Official Report, columns 137–40WS, we will shortly be closing the British embassy in Antananarivo, Madagascar. After the British embassy closes, relations with Madagascar will be covered from our high commission in Port Louis, Mauritius supported by an honorary consul in Antananarivo.
