Proceeding contribution from John Greenway (Conservative) in the House of Commons on Monday, 27 March 2006. It occurred during Urgent question on Rural Payments Agency.

Rural Payments Agency

I am grateful for what the right hon. Lady said in answer to my hon. Friend the Member for Kettering (Mr. Hollobone), but does she realise that not just farmers but the agricultural supply trade and many hauliers are also dependent on receipt of the payments? Does not she think it important that she gives a date by which, unless a substantial proportion of payments have been made, there will be interim payments? Many of those businesses simply cannot survive until 30 June.
