To ask the Chancellor of the Exchequer what target his Department has for the maximum acceptable amount of time to answer written parliamentary questions; and what percentage of parliamentary answers met that target in each parliamentary session since 2001.
Answer

Treasury Ministers endeavour to answer written questions in the timescales set by the House of Commons—that is to say, on the day specified by the questioner in the case of named day questions and within a working week of tabling for ordinary written questions. The table gives the proportion of written questions answered within these timescales in each of the last six parliamentary sessions:

The Treasury does not have a target for the maximum acceptable length of time for answering.
