Iraq: Detainees

Question
To ask the Secretary of State for Defence whether recordings have been made of interviews conducted with individuals captured by British forces during the conflicts in Iraq and Afghanistan; what his policy is on making such recordings; and if he will make a statement.
Answer

[holding answer 18 March 2008]: It is our general policy that in both Iraq and Afghanistan, written or video records are kept of interviews with individuals held in detention by UK forces.
