Inherited Estates

Question
To ask Her Majesty's Government what assessment they have made of the comments directed at the Financial Services Authority (FSA) by the Policyholders' Protection Group in regard to its ruling on the distribution of the Norwich Union inherited estates surplus; and whether they will ask the FSA to review its decision in the light of the dissatisfaction expressed.
Answer

The regulation of insurance inherited estates is a matter for the Financial Services Authority (FSA), which sets the rules covering the management of with-profits funds.
