- To ask the Chancellor of the Exchequer what assessment he has made of the conclusion of the Turner Report on the regulatory response to the global banking crisis that a complete legal distinction of narrow banking from market-making activities is not feasible.
- Answer

We currently do not believe that the case has yet been made for a Glass-Steagall style split between retail banking and investment banking activities but will continue to keep this issue under review.
