Aviation: Security

- To ask the Minister of State, Department for Transport whether any (a) individuals and (b) categories of British citizen will be exempt from undergoing full body scans when passing through airport security.

All passengers departing from UK airports are subject to search, and airport authorities are entitled to refuse access to restricted (i.e. airside) areas to any persons not willing to be screened. If a passenger is selected for screening by a security screening device and refuses to go through, then they will not be able to travel.A small number of individuals are exempt from certain screening procedures in line with international protocols.
