Written question asked by Lord Avebury (Liberal Democrat), in the House of Lords. It was answered by Baroness Wilcox (Conservative) on Tuesday, 26 October 2010.
Equality Act 2010
- Question
- To ask Her Majesty’s Government whether they will seek legal advice about which matters complained of in the European Commission’s Reasoned Opinion 226, infringement number 2006/2450, remain in potential breach of EU directives following the enactment of the Equality Act 2010.
- Answer
-
There is an understanding that infringement proceedings are a confidential matter between the European Commission and member states. It would therefore be inappropriate to comment on this particular reasoned opinion. As a matter of routine, my department is able to draw on legal advice as and when necessary.
