Departmental Libraries
- Question
- To ask the Secretary of State for the Home Department how many (a) certified and (b) chartered librarians her Department has employed in each year since 2000.
- Answer
-
The information requested is not held for each year since 2000. Our current records show that there are eight staff members in the Home Office who are employed as librarians. These staff are required to have a Chartered Institute of Library and Information Professionals (CILIP) recognised qualification in library and information management, graduate or post-graduate qualification in library and information management or records management, it is not a requirement to have Chartered status. The Home Office may also employ further staff members with these qualifications in roles that do not require these skills specifically and hence records are not kept of their numbers.
