- Answer

No assessment has been made on the potential effect on morale of members of the armed forces ineligible to receive the commemorative Diamond Jubilee Medal. The Department for Culture, Olympics, Media, and Sport have announced that the criteria of five years service on 6 February 2012 had been approved by Her Majesty the Queen. This requirement is consistent with the approach used in 2002 when determining eligibility for the Golden Jubilee Medal, and with other key front line services such as the prison service, the police, and fire and rescue services.
