Houses of Parliament: Heating
- Question
- To ask the Chairman of Committees whether the same boiler supplies heating for both Houses of Parliament within the Palace of Westminster.
- Answer
-
The main boiler house within the Palace of Westminster comprises a set of three steam boilers. The boilers typically operate with two in use and the third as a standby, thereby providing resilience within the system. There is a single steam pipework distribution system from the plant room which serves the heating and hot water requirements of both Houses simultaneously.
