Answer

Ms Lynne: To ask the Secretary of State for Social Security, pursuant to his answers on 27 June, Official Report, columns 228-29, on the Child Support Agency, how many cases have been removed from the Child Support Agency computer system due to the process of archiving or weeding out data.[36842] Mr. Mitchell: The administration of the Child Support Agency is a matter for the chief executive, Miss Ann Chant. She will write to the hon. Member. Letter from Miss Ann Chant to Ms Liz Lynne, dated 16 July 1996: I am replying to your Parliamentary Question to the Secretary of State for Social Security about the Child Support Agency Computer system. Your question is worded only slightly differently from the series of questions asked by James Pawsey MP, to which I replied recently. No complete cases have been removed from the Child Support Agency Computer System due to the process of weeding or archiving data. The process leaves a basic record on the system to show that there has been contact with the person concerned. I hope this is helpful.
