- If the review of out of office hours emergency services provided by the Benefits Agency is now complete; what consultations with outside bodies he has conducted during the review; and what instructions he has issued concerning the future operation of such services; how many people requested help from service this year, to date, and in each of last 5 years; what was total cost of operating and total number of staff designated to service in each year; what discussions DSS has had and plans to have with Association of County Councils, Association of Metropolitan Authorities and Association of Directors of Social Services concerning future operations; and what estimates DSS has made of impact on local authorities of ending the service; and what financial assistance DSS will offer to local authorities to provide additional services for public seeking emergency help. - Includes text of letter from Peter Mathison of Benefits Agency and figures.
