Mr. Jim Cunningham: To ask the Secretary of State for Defence what is his Department's estimate of the manpower of the Royal Navy on 1 April 1999. [13732] Mr. Soames: It is estimated that the strength of the Royal Navy, including the Royal Marines, will be 44,000 on 1 April 1999.
