To ask Mr Chancellor of the Exchequer, if the one-off payments to pensioners to assist with their winter fuel bills will be taxed as income. - (Holding answer 12 December 1997).

Mr. Swinney: To ask the Chancellor of the Exchequer if the one-off payments to pensioners to assist with their winter fuel bills will be taxed as income. [20121] Dawn Primarolo: [holding answer 12 December 1997]: No. These payments will not be taxed.
