Mr. Martyn Jones: To ask the Secretary of State for the Environment, Transport and the Regions if he will make a statement on his proposals to involve local authorities in checking vehicle emissions at the roadside. [8489] Ms Glenda Jackson: The Government hopes to make an announcement shortly about proposals to involve local authorities in checking vehicle emissions at the roadside. The proposals will be subject to public consultation and parliamentary approval.
