Dr. David Clark: To ask the Secretary of State for Defence what was (a) the total value and (b) the number of defence contracts placed with American companies in each of the last five years. [21143] Mr. Arbuthnot: For the years 1994 and 1995, I refer the hon. Member to the answer I gave on 28 February 1996, Official Report, column 559. For the years 1992, 1993 and 1996, the total value and number of contracts placed where the work has been carried out in the USA is as follows: _________________________________________________________________________________________________. The figures for 1996 are not yet complete. Additions are made to the database for three months after the end of the year in question.
