Mr. Frank Field: To ask the Secretary of State for Defence if he will list the number of (a) civilian and (b) military personnel employed by his Department for each year since 1979. [21028] Mr. Soames: This is a matter for the chief executive of Defence Analytical Services Agency. I have asked the chief executive to write to the hon. Member. Letter from P. Altobell to Mr. Frank Field, dated 20 March 1997. I am replying to your question to the Secretary of State for Defence regarding the number of (a) civilian and (b) military personnel employed by his Department for each year since 1979, as this falls within my area of responsibility as Chief Executive of Defence Analytical Services Agency. The figures are presented in the accompanying table. Please refer to the notes appended to the table. I hope you will find this information helpful.
