- To ask the Secretary of State for Trade and Industry, if he will estimate the impact of (a) 10 per cent. and (b) 15 per cent. reduction in new car prices on the (i) revenue and (ii) profits of United Kingdom-based car manufacturers.

Mr. Redwood: To ask the Secretary of State for Trade and Industry if he will estimate the impact of (a) 10 per cent. and (b) 15 per cent. reduction in new car prices on the (i) revenue and (ii) profits of United Kingdom-based car manufacturers. [59566] Mr. Mandelson: The revenue and profits of businesses are influenced by a range of factors, of which the price of the product is only one. I do not therefore propose to make such an estimate.
