Question: To ask the Prime Minister, pursuant to his letter of 23rd June, if he will discuss with President Clinton and M. Jacques Santer the sanctions imposed on Libya under UN Security Council resolutions. - (Holding answer 21 October 1998).

Answer: Mr. Dalyell: To ask the Prime Minister, pursuant to his letter of 23 June, if he will discuss with President Clinton and M. Jacques Santer the sanctions imposed on Libya under UN Security Council resolutions. [54965] The Prime Minister: [holding answer 21 October 1998]: UN Security Council Resolution 1192 states that the UN sanctions imposed on Libya will be suspended once the two Lockerbie accused are delivered to the Netherlands for trial before a Scottish court, and provided the French Government declares itself satisfied with Libyan co-operation concerning the UTA bombing. I regularly discuss the need for Libyan compliance with UN Security Council resolutions in my bilateral contacts.
