Sir Teddy Taylor: To ask the Secretary of State for Foreign and Commonwealth Affairs if he will make a statement on the proposals which the United Kingdom and United States of America have made for the trial of the Lockerbie suspects in the Hague; and if procedures have been introduced to enable the Libyan Government to clarify the issues involved. [55309] Mr. Tony Lloyd: The Governments of the United Kingdom, the United States and the Netherlands continue to do all they can to take forward the initiative for trial of the two accused in the Netherlands, as announced on 24 August. United Nations Security Council Resolution 1192 has been adopted unanimously, the UK Order in Council made, the UK/Dutch treaty signed, and the site for the trial designated. The Libyan Government have sought and are obtaining clarification on a number of issues through the UN Secretary-General's Office--the channel specified in UNSCR 1192.
