Mr. Mitchell: To ask the President of the Board of Trade how many people were employed in textile finishing (a) in 1979, (b) in 1989, (c) in 1995 and (d) at the latest available date. [49622] Mr. Battle: The number of people employed in the textile finishing industry were 23,500 in 1989, 18,800 in 1995 and 19,900 in 1996. Data for 1979 are not available on the same basis.
