- To ask the Secretary of State for Foreign and Commonwealth Affairs, what plans he has to consult local authorities on the future location of GCHQ.

Mr. Nigel Jones: To ask the Secretary of State for Foreign and Commonwealth Affairs what plans he has to consult local authorities on the future location of GCHQ. [52205] Mr. Robin Cook: GCHQ has maintained contact with and consulted local authorities at all stages of their new accommodation project and will continue to do so. The development of GCHQ's future accommodation is subject to statutory planning procedures and the short-listed consortia will be required to obtain planning consent from the Local Authorities for their development plans.
