Mr. Baker: To ask the Chancellor of the Exchequer what account he took of the Pre-Budget report of the Environmental Audit Committee Session 1997-98, HC 547 in framing the proposals for his Budget. [35034] Dawn Primarolo: [holding answer 18 March 1998]: The Environmental Audit Committee's report was published on 10 March. It was not possible to give detailed consideration to the Committee's recommendations at that late stage of the Budget preparations. The Government will, however, formally respond to the Committee's report in due course.
