Question: To ask Mr Chancellor of the Exchequer, if he will take steps during the United Kingdom Presidency to end the attempts retrospectively to fine importers of prawns from Iceland and the Faroes subsequently claimed by the European Commission to have originated in Russia.

Answer: Mr. Mitchell: To ask the Chancellor of the Exchequer if he will take steps during the United Kingdom Presidency to end the attempts retrospectively to fine importers of prawns from Iceland and the Faroes subsequently claimed by the European Commission to have originated in Russia. [33288] Dawn Primarolo: We remain committed to finding an equitable solution to the issue of retrospective duty demands where goods imported under preferential tariff arrangements have subsequently proved not to qualify, and are giving high priority during our Presidency of the EU to making progress on this issue.
