Question: To ask the Minister of Agriculture, Fisheries and Food, what estimates his Department has made of the impact on the continuity of food research contracts of a relocation of Norwich-based scientific staff to York.

Answer: Mr. Charles Clarke: To ask the Minister of Agriculture, Fisheries and Food what estimates his Department has made of the impact on the continuity of food research contracts of a relocation of Norwich-based scientific staff to York. [32869] Mr. Rooker: Previous experience from initial occupation of the Central Science Laboratory at York was that relocation had a minimal impact on the science programme. The average down time for scientific staff during that exercise, including decommissioning, moving and recommissioning equipment, was an average of three weeks.
