Dept of the Environment Transport and the Regions

Question
To ask the Secretary of State for the Environment, Transport and the Regions, if he will call in the Wychavon Local Plan for determination.
Answer

Mr. Luff: To ask the Secretary of State for the Environment, Transport and the Regions if he will call in the Wychavon Local Plan for determination; and if he will make a statement. [26217] Mr. Caborn: The Wychavon Local Plan has already been determined. It was adopted by the Council on 21 January 1998 and the Secretary of State cannot now intervene. We gave careful consideration to the plan proposals throughout each stage of the process leading to adoption and we are satisfied that there was no justification for intervention by the Secretary of State.
