Mr. Gunnell: To ask the Secretary of State for International Development what assistance was (a) sought from and (b) given by her Department to the Bahamas as a result of Hurricane Floyd. [99203] Clare Short: Following Hurricane Floyd, my Department received appeals for funds to assist the Bahamas from the Bahamian Red Cross and the Bahamian National Disaster Relief Fund. £15,625 ($25,000) was donated to each appeal.
