Answer

Mr. Ruane: To ask the Secretary of State for the Environment, Transport and the Regions what was the total amount of (a) glass, (b) paper, (c) aluminium and (d) plastic recycled in the United Kingdom in each of the last 20 years. [141142] Mr. Mullin: We do not hold the total amounts of recycling carried out in each of these materials over the last 20 years and the information can only be obtained at a disproportionate cost. However, information on previous years' recycling for these materials can be found in the Digest of Environmental Statistics Number 20, copies of which are available in the House Library.
