Mr. Menzies Campbell: To ask the Secretary of State for Defence how many Territorial Army centres there were in (a) May 1998 and (b) May 1999. [83626] Mr. Doug Henderson: The number of Territorial Army Centres in the following years were: _________________________________________________________________________________________________. Year Number May 1998 452 May 1999 454 _________________________________________________________________________________________________. TA Centres that were vacant, or that housed only cadet units, have been excluded from these figures. Similarly, Territorial Auxiliary and Volunteer Reserve Association (TAVRA) headquarters buildings and stand-alone University Officer Training Corps (UOTC) premises have not been included.
