Answer

Mr. Field: To ask the Secretary of State for Defence if he will preserve all files and papers relating to the procurement and introduction of the FADEC system for the Chinook Mk2. [131257] Mr. Spellar: [holding answer 18 July 2000]: We are not aware that any files or papers relating to the procurement and introduction of the FADEC system for the Chinook Mk2 have been destroyed and have no intention of destroying them while public interest in this matter continues. However work on the FADEC system for the Chinook Mk2 began in 1988 and it is possible that some of the earlier papers have been destroyed.
