Miss Geraldine Smith: To ask the Chancellor of the Exchequer when x-ray detectors for the use of customs officers will be introduced to combat smuggling. [119742] Dawn Primarolo: It is expected the first scanner will be operational in November 2000. Additional scanners will be installed in the following months.
