Question: To ask the Secretary of State for Transport, Local Government and the Regions, what account he will take of train operators assuming a right to require staff to work their leave days unless specifically declaring their non-availability when renewing franchises.

Answer: Mr. Alan Simpson: To ask the Secretary of State for Transport, Local Government and the Regions what account he will take of train operators assuming a right to require staff to work their leave days unless specifically declaring their non-availability when renewing franchises. [21439] Mr. Jamieson: Staffing matters, including working hours, are the responsibility of the train operating companies and are not prescribed in franchise agreements. There are no plans to change this.
