Mr. Cousins: To ask the Chancellor of the Exchequer what guidance his Department has issued to insurance enterprises on the potential effect on reserves of with-profits bonds. [154804] Miss Melanie Johnson: The reserving requirements for with-profits bonds are set out in the Insurance Companies Act 1982 and in subsequent regulations, and in the equivalent legislation for friendly societies.
