- To ask Mr Chancellor of the Exchequer, how many cases have been undertaken, and how many successful prosecutions have resulted each year using each sub-section of section 47 of the Financial Services Act 1986; and if the replacement section of the Financial Services and Markets Act 2000 is now fully operational. - Includes figures. Mr. Cousins: To ask the Chancellor of the Exchequer how many cases have been undertaken, and how many successful prosecutions have resulted each year using each sub-section of section 47 of the Financial Services Act 1986; and if the replacement section of the Financial Services and Markets Act 2000 is now fully operational. [143880] Miss Melanie Johnson: [holding answer 8 January 2001]: There have been a total of seven prosecutions under section 47 of the Financial Services Act 1986 since it came into force. Six resulted in convictions. The replacement provisions of the Financial Services and Markets Act 2000 will come into operation later this year.
