Nick Harvey: To ask the Secretary of State for Culture, Media and Sport what recent assessment she has made of her Department's involvement in facilitating and promoting competitiveness of British creative industries (a) at home and (b) abroad; and if she will make a statement. [83745] Dr. Howells: The Department is working in partnership with other Government Departments and representatives of the creative industries to enhance their economic performance at home and overseas. More recent figures from official sources suggest that in 2000 the creative industries: generated revenues of £76.6 billion provided jobs for 1.95 million account for 7.9 per cent. of GDP
