Mr. Redwood: To ask the Secretary of State for Transport how many people enter London by (a) the Great Western Railway and (b) the M4 between 8 am and 9 am on a working weekday morning. [81253] Mr. Spellar: There are between 11,000 and 12,000 people entering London between 8 am and 9 am using trains which operate into London Paddington. The exact figure will vary a little from day to day as not all commuters use the same trains every day. The average number of vehicles entering London by the M4 between 8 am and 9 am on a weekday morning is 5,520. The Highways Agency does not have details of the number of occupants in these vehicles.
