Paul Flynn: To ask the Secretary of State for Defence what evidence there is of attacks by remnants of the Taliban and al-Qaeda in Afghanistan since the end of the recent war; and if he will make a statement. [96980] Mr. Hoon: The al-Qaeda network in Afghanistan was severely weakened by coalition military action. However, remnants of al-Qaeda and Taliban forces continue to pose a limited security threat in some regions of the country, and coalition operations to defeat them continue.
